POWERUP: TEACHER-LED INSTRUCTION

With Lexia® PowerUp Literacy™, teachers have the resources they need to provide direct instruction and intervention.

As students work independently in the online activities, real-time  performance data is collected through Lexia’s embedded progress  monitoring system.

Based on this data, PowerUp recommends specific offline resources for face-to-face instruction and independent practice.

LEXIA LESSONS

Designed for face-to-face instruction, Lexia Lessons® are  provided to teachers automatically based on student performance in the  online program.

These scripted lessons include embedded professional  development and can be delivered offline, either individually or to  small groups of students working on the same skill.

These lessons can be delivered in a variety of ways, including pull-out intervention, double ELA block, or as an elective.

LEXIA SKILL BUILDERS

When a student successfully completes an online activity in PowerUp, the program provides a set of paper-and-pencil activities called Lexia Skill Builders® that are designed to reinforce and extend learning.

These Lexia Skill Builders help students transfer the skills learned in the online program to offline reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.

Skill Builders can be used in the classroom, as homework, or at after-school centers, where students work independently or with a partner.

FLEXIBLE IMPLEMENTATION

Lexia Lessons and Lexia Skill Builders fit flexibly into existing classroom routines. While some students work on computers to complete online activities, other students can receive direct, teacher-led instruction using the skill-specific Lexia Lessons.

While this takes place, another group may be practicing newly acquired skills using Lexia Skill Builders. Working independently helps on-target students develop automaticity and expand skills, and allows teachers the opportunity to provide direct, face-to-face instruction for students at the greatest risk of reading failure.
